Making a deposit

Initial deposit deadline

Once you’ve opened your account you’ll need to make your initial deposit within 14 calendar days from the date we receive your application. If we don’t receive funds in this time we’ll unfortunately need to close your account and you’ll have to reapply.

Deposits from your Nominated Account

A Nominated Account is a personal UK Bank or Building Society current account that must be used as the source account for depositing any money with us and will also be the destination account to which we’ll send any funds you withdraw from your Ford Money account. Certain products allow you to have your interest and, where applicable, maturing funds paid to this account too.

You can make deposits from your Nominated Account via BACS, CHAPS or Faster Payment. Note that we don’t accept cheques. When making your deposit please use the following details:

  • Beneficiary Name: Ford Money
  • Our Sort Code: 20-32-53 (Note that the clearing bank we use is Barclays)
  • Our Bank Account Number: 63604551
  • Our Reference: Your seven-digit Ford Money account number then at least the first three letters of your surname.

Note that if you wish to make an initial deposit immediately after your application has been accepted but before we have provided you with your Ford Money account number, you should instead quote your nine digit temporary application reference number, followed by at least the first three letters of your surname.

Making a deposit from another Ford Money account

Log in and choose the account you want to transfer from, then select Move Money from the Account Options menu and follow the instructions to transfer funds.

If you make a deposit from an account other than your Nominated Account

Funds sent in from another UK Bank or Building Society account will be returned as we can only accept money from your Nominated Account.

If you want to change your existing Nominated Account, log in and select Change Details from the menu, select Change Nominated Account and follow the instructions. Note that for security reasons this change will become effective around 14 calendar days after the request has been received. In the meantime, you should continue to use your existing Nominated Account.

When deposits will show in your account

If you make your deposit by 4pm on a business day, that deposit will show on your account on the next business day. (A business day means any day other than a Saturday, Sunday or English public holiday.)

If you miss this deadline, or make the deposit on a non-business day, you can expect your money to show up in your Ford Money account two business days later.

For example, a deposit made at any time from 4pm on Friday until 4pm on Monday (assuming no bank holidays) will appear on Tuesday. If this deposit is made any later on the Monday it will show on your account on Wednesday.

Note that we’ll still apply interest from the day you made your deposit, regardless of whether it was a business day or not.
